The kids enjoy putting up the tree every year. This year we needed a new one so my husband found a very nice pre-lit Christmas tree for us. I really like it. The lights are already in place and you don't have to wrestle with strings of lights. The kids put it up already, although we normally put our tree up about the 10th of December. We still need to clean up and put the star on top but I think it turned out beautifully.
Also, each year my husband and I take turns putting our choice of tree topper on the tree. I prefer the angel, and he prefers the star. So this year it is his turn to add the star to the top of the tree.
